Storyline:

After scathing a near mortal car incident, 30 year old Naython retraces his steps back into his past to try and discover how he ended up in the situation he now finds himself. His journey takes him through love and loss, family roots abroad, a mix up with the Sicilian mafia and back again.


Inspirations:

First of all, the whole idea for the story came solely out of listening to ‘The Scientist’ by Coldplay and repeatedly watching the video to it on MTV. I continue to adore that song which for some reason never tires me. Other songs that have had a heavy influence upon the novel and screenplay are ‘Ask’, Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me’ and ‘There Is A Light That Will Never Go Out’ by The Smiths.


Secondly, the car crash that is in the Coldplay video reminded me of a car crash that I had a few years previously. Therefore, inspired, I began to write my own song lyrics telling the story of my car crash and about a love interest that had caused me go back to the start after a series of misadventures. The track was immediately produced and named ‘The Circle’. From there on those lyrics just weren’t enough for me and one thing led to another and before I knew it I was writing a novel. So, 2HOTC is primarily a fiction novel with hints of real situations that I’ve been faced with during my life. ‘Halved’ is the screenplay version.
